The holidays are fast approaching and with this in mind, Jenna Miles Coleman of J Leslie Decor and Marianne Brown of Marianne Lucille Photography wanted to create a beautifully styled cozy cabin setting that could be used for inspiring brides who love the holidays. The result is just stunning, a table that will inspire anyone celebrating this season!
From Marianne…We wanted to bring in rich textures and a touch of the outdoors to make this setting extra special. We really liked the idea of shooting inside of a railroad museum because it comes with its own set of unique trinkets and antique items. We really wanted to help convey a beautiful and cozy setting for this shoot.
J Leslie Wedding Decor created an invitation suite that has hand lettering on the envelope and lovely hand drawn holiday features inside. These personal touches help to convey some of those happy and warm feelings that one usually has during the holidays.
The table setting involves many different textures including burlap, wood, bark, pine needles, knitted place mats, pine cones and wax candles. We wanted to bring elements of the outside indoors to create a feeling like you’re snuggled in at a cabin in the woods with a fire roaring nearby.
The table-scape also included other vintage items such as old tin buckets filled with pine cones and berries, a Kodak brownie camera and an old door that is used to hold a chalkboard. These elements help to tie in the setting of the shoot with all the old machinery and old brick walls.
We brought in more color and texture through the knitted and plaid scarves and blankets on the benches. Not only are the blankets there for style but also for warmth. The “Mr” and “Mrs” signs were created by Jenna for her own wedding and she shared them with this shoot. The signs definitely go well with the wooden pieces that are used throughout the shoot. These signs help to designate this setting and table as the bride and groom’s table. With a simple draping of the leaves over the sign, the seating for the couple become complete.
The desserts were very fun to add into the shoot. The naked cake was made and styled by Jenna. The old milk crate held milk bottles with milk for thirsty guests. The bottles have red paper straws and candy canes to help spread the holiday feel more. The crate also holds greenery and take aways for the guests – s’mores kits! How fun?! The strawberry-rhubarb pie was made my myself as well as the pumpkin bread. The popcorn bags are personalized with hand lettering by Jenna and make fun snacks for the younger guests who attend the wedding.
This shoot was very special for Jenna and I to put together. We both went to high school together in Savannah, GA and I’m very happy that we are able to now help each other’s businesses propel forward. We both love the holidays and hope that this shoot helps future brides see how they can easily put together a lovely vintage cozy do-it-yourself holiday wedding reception!
