Everyone loves a beach wedding. It’s a win-win; the seaside has amazing, natural scenery for dreamy photos, and holding the ceremony alongside the ocean gives guests a great excuse for an extended vacation!
As a “beach bride,” you’ve got the perfect flowing dress, but there are still so many other details of your look that can be finalized to a seaside-chic look. Luckily, brides have a number of options for hair, makeup and more that are fitting for the beach. Check out the trends we’ve spotted on brides walking down the sandy aisle.
Hair
A beach bride can wear her hair in a countless number of styles. If you want an effortless, carefree look, opt for loose, luxurious wave. You can accomplish the look with the help of a curling iron or the easy way, sleeping with your wet hair in braids! Don’t worry about your hair appearing absolutely perfect, the messier it is, the more natural it will look against the tide.
If you prefer a more polished look, go for an up-do by tucking your hair into a low bun. Adorn your ‘do with ocean-inspired clips or with fresh flowers that match your bouquet.
Makeup
Similar to a normal vacation day at the beach, natural-looking makeup is key on your wedding day. Go for a bridal glow, with a slightly smoky eye and nude lipstick.
Style tip: You will be in the sun, so don’t forget to start your makeup routine with sunscreen!
Bouquet
Most anything goes when it comes to a beach-y bouquet—anything from purple anemones to red-orange amaryllises to pink peonies can work for your floral arrangement.
For many brides, white reigns supreme. For an elegant all white arrangement, try a simple bunch of traditional calla lilies. We’ve also seen many beach brides incorporate sea themed elements such as shells and starfish into their bouquets.
If you’re feeling really adventurous and non-traditional, ditch the bouquet altogether and surprise guests by walking down the aisle with a bright parasol. It’s your day – make it yours!
Jewelry
Understated elegance is the way to go and pearl studs or a simple pearl pendant are the perfect accessories for a beach wedding. Similar to our bouquet suggestion, you may want to wear ocean inspired jewelry like a small seahorse pendant or gold starfish studs.
Don’t forget about decorating your feet. Many beach brides are going barefoot and wearing “foot jewelry” instead of shoes. These “barefoot sandals” are strings of jewels that wrap around the ankle and ensure you’ll be glowing all the way down to your toes!
