Bright pink flamingo motifs are very much in fashion right now, but did you know that this popular icon dates back to the 1950s when lawn flamingos first made their appearance? Inspired by this iconic pink plastic outdoor decor, Two Prince Bakery Theater dreamed up this flamingo engagement party, filled with fabulous retro nostalgia. The bright and cheery flamingo theme is perfect for celebrating a newly engaged couple, and Marc Edwards Photographs captured every special steal-worthy detail!
A Cheerful Invitation
A gorgeous watercolor paper suite featuring a flamingo served as the initial inspiration for the celebration.
The color palette was carried into the decor flawlessly!
A Tropical Color Palette
Old black and white movies inspired a bold black and white color palette, featuring cabana stripes and polka dots. To add contrast, bright pops of flamingo pink, lime green, yellow and gold were incorporated into the details and decor.
Pink miniature pineapples were tucked into the centerpieces for a charming tropical touch!
Lastly, dozens of friendly plastic flamingos welcomed guests to the backyard bash!
Vintage Fifties Fashion
The bride and groom traveled through time for these 50s era looks, complete with vintage inspired clothing, accessories, hair, and makeup!
Custom Cocktails
A custom bar was created for this party featuring bold black and white stripes and a vintage marquis bar sign. An AstroTurf backdrop really made the installation a focal point of the party! Custom napkins and coasters were a nice personalized touch, too.
Signature cocktails included a Malbec Sangria with fresh muddled fruit, and a pink flamingo cocktail made with organic pink lemonade and coconut rum topped with a pink maraschino cherry. Finishing off the presentation, drinks were served with striped paper straws in whimsical inflatable flamingo drink holders!
Retro Treats & Sweets
Retro-inspired foods such as pink deviled eggs (pickled with beets), spam and pineapple, and crackers topped with spray cheese were served as hors d’oeuvres.
The guests were treated to a gorgeous dessert table featuring a coconut layer cake, gold pineapple cake pops, and fancy flamingo macarons.
Finally, a popsicle cart arrived delivering hand-crafted popsicles to keep guests cool.
Flamingo Favors
A party favor is a finishing touch that leaves lasting memories of the special occasion! For this celebration, each guest was gifted a gold flamingo bottle opener with custom gift tag. This adorable bar accessory is sure to remind them of this flamingo engagement party!
Nostalgic Party Activities
Even the activities incorporated a touch of nostalgia! Guests played croquet with adorable flamingo mallets and snapped photos in a photo booth using a vintage-inspired Fujifilm Instax camera.
